Wild Horses in the Caribbean KBR Wild Horse and Burro Information Sheet

Wild Horses in the Caribbean Islands

Map courtesy of the Abaco Wild Horse Fund, Inc.

Horses arrived in the Caribbean as a result of Spanish exploration, settlement, and even people seeking refuge from war such as British loyalists who fled the United States after the American Revolution. In a few remote locations the settlers and immigrants left, their horses were turned loose and survived. This section is dedicated to these horses, although solid information appears difficult to obtain. (If anyone is aware of information on any of the other "island" wild horse bands, please email us! Thanks!)

Please Note:

This is not a BLM operated or BLM sponsored site. It is run by private wild horse and burro enthusiasts. We are thankful to the BLM and other wild horse preservation groups for providing the information which is presented here. We also hope to soon be posting information pertaining to wild horses in other Caribbean and Gulf islands.
