Oklahoma:
Driving Mustang and Buggy For Sale

Jim Schopp writes:

I have a mustang gelding (cert. of title, #84810803, dated 4/2/86). His signalment key is 231030011.

He is well trained as a driving horse and can be ridden (although he reins more like a driving horse). I need to sell him, asking $1200. He is a blood bay. The vet said he has some draft horse in him, and the man I bought him from thought he was part Morgan. He is a very stocky horse and has a smooth trot. He is also very smart and quite calm.

Dogs and cars don't seem to bother him. I have three dogs, two large. I have driven him on blacktop and he is very alert to trafic and what is going on around him but doesn't seem at all nervous. If you accept If someone in this area (mid-west, I live in eastern Oklahoma) that might be interested, please contact me.

I have a doctor's buggy and leather buggy harness I will sell for an additional $1050.

Grant-a-Wish Program
Needs Gentle Palomino

Jim Lambertson writes:

Hi , I am sending this in hopes to find a palomino horse. It is wanted for a little girl with cysic fibrosis and the " Grant a Wish " program. The horse needs to be extremely gentle.

This little girl's wish has been for a palomino . It would be nice if it were trained to pull a cart, a lead line horse would be good. There is money to purchase a horse, also a donated horse would be a tax write off.

I heard about this little girl through the "Pegasus Foundation ". Any one intrested can contact them through e mail at pegasus@socal.wanet.com or visit their website at http://www.wanet.net/~pegasus/.

Thanks, Jim, for sending this in.

Mustang Gelding Available

Chew is 6 years old. 15 hands very handsome. Has also been ridden in the mountains. I sent him to Jim Neubert for a month to put some miles on him last fall. He is a sweetie, but sometimes hard to catch. I truly believe he is just playing, cuz he cuts out and circles back to watch my next move. After about 2 or 3 minutes of this he lets me catch him. Hmmm. He has been rather shy, but is not coming up to the fence to see me. I don't give any handouts.

Wyoming
STOLEN HORSE

This is a QH, but under the circumstances I felt it appropriate to post.

Hi
My name is Chris and I live in Northern Wyoming. Last night my
horse was stolen right out of my pasture. He is a nine year old
flashy bay gelding. He has a star-stripe-snip and white around his
left hind pastern. He also has a brand ( M/W ) on his left hip.
He is about 16 hands tall and looks kinda like a TB even though he
is a registered Quarter Horse. He also had a bump on his right jaw
where he broke the bone. I was wondering if there was a way
we could get ahold of veterinarians, farriers, and other horse
people in Wyoming and the surrounding states (esp. South Dakota and
Montana) incase he might turn up to get a health inspection, shod
or something else like that. If there is any way you could help me,
I would be very appreciative and I am offering a reward for
anyone who provides information that helps me get my horse back.
He is a great, friendly horse and I miss him very much. I am sure
he will turn up in a show ring some where because he is so flashy and
has a springy trot.

Thank you for your time and help.

Mustang Mare Available

Barbara Johnson wrote:

I'd like to ask for your help for a horse I used to own. For financial reasons (my husband's health), I was forced to sell Lacey (a mustang) last year. I adopted the mare about 4 years ago. Lacey was my first horse, and I am very concerned about making sure she is happy and well cared for.

The lady that bought Lacey is a novice horse owner, and isn't really happy with her. Lacey is broke to ride, and had NO bad habits at the time she was originally sold, but she was still "green." I asked her new owner to take Lacey to a trainer, and to take riding lessons herself, but the lady hasn't followed through on either count. Unfortunately, Lacey has suffered as a result. She's lost weight, and developed the habit of shying away from the saddle, among other things.

I would like to buy Lacey back, and have offered to, but I don't have the money right now to do so (she's asking $600). I know Lacey is desperately unhappy, and it breaks my heart. She needs a better home, and I would like to see her go to someone with the patience and loving kindness to undo all the bad experiences and habits she has developed."

"Lacey is a bay mare, approximately 14.2 hands, 9 years old. She's got a beautiful face, and is very intelligent and kind (but she thinks she IS the boss ... she can be obstinate at times). I had done some Parelli ground-work with her, and she caught on faster than all the other horses in the class!

The present owner is asking $600 for her. If you are interested, or know if someone who would be willing to "adopt" Lacey, please contact me and I will be happy to arrange a meeting.

(Webmaster's note: We've rehabed fractures here at the ranch and the horses have come totally sound; one being used for amateur reining and long distance trail. While common sense sould prevail, a fracture is not necessarily indicative of a limited use horse.

Terri Kunz writes:

Got a call about a small horse herd - registered Appaloosa horses - that needed homes NOW. The Doctor that owned them has died and his widow wants them sold - NOW. She is even talking about calling in the meat packers for a bid. The problem is that these critters have never been trained - most aren't even halter broken !! Seems the Dr. thought he'd make money breeding Apps and when he couldn't sell them he just left 'em in the pasture. The stallion is in with the mares so when the foals are born this spring (and some are CLOSE) the mares will be rebred !! First thing I said was CALL THE VET !! So you have one more gelding - so what ??!! Owner won't do it. Heart breaking - have no where to put any of them and don't have enough contacts left in the horse world. Have sold a couple so far - thanks in large part to another girl that is helping train as fast as possible. No way will the widow just give them to good homes - PEOPLE !!

The horses are in Asheville, NC - just off of I-26. The owner is flying back from CA this week and we hope to get her to change her mind and let us have more time to place the critters. She wavers between selling them for a BIG price and calling in the packers !! Can't seem to get her to understand that a 7 y/o untrained horse is NOT worth a whole lot !
